The Area Lighting Research PT-168 is a heavy-duty fixed-mount photocontrol designed to automatically operate exterior lighting from dusk to dawn. Engineered for 208/240/277VAC systems, the PT-168 provides dependable automatic switching for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential outdoor lighting installations. Its durable non-metallic polycarbonate housing delivers long-lasting weather resistance while providing reliable performance in demanding outdoor environments.

The PT-168 incorporates a heavy-duty SPST thermal bi-metal switch with a built-in 30 to 45 second time delay that helps eliminate nuisance cycling caused by lightning, vehicle headlights, or other temporary light sources. Rated for up to 2,000 watts tungsten and 1,900 VA ballast loads, it is suitable for controlling HID, incandescent, and compact fluorescent luminaires. The factory-set 1.5 foot-candle turn-on level and 5:1 OFF/ON ratio provide consistent dusk-to-dawn operation.

Designed for dependable long-term service, the PT-168 features a fail-ON design, cadmium sulfide (CdS) light sensor, UV-resistant polycarbonate housing, and operates in temperatures from -40°C to +65°C. The photocontrol is UL Listed and designed to meet ANSI C136.10 enclosure requirements, making it ideal for parking lot lighting, roadway lighting, security lighting, building exteriors, signs, and other outdoor lighting applications.
