The Area Lighting Research SC-10A is a heavy-duty shorting cap designed to provide continuous circuit operation for outdoor lighting fixtures equipped with ANSI C136.10 twist-lock photocontrol receptacles. Installed in place of a photocontrol, the SC-10A bypasses photoelectric switching to maintain constant power to the luminaire, making it ideal for maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and applications requiring continuous operation.

Designed for operation on 120-480VAC systems, the SC-10A supports lighting loads up to 1000 watts tungsten and 1800 VA ballast. Its clear, high-impact UV-stabilized polycarbonate housing withstands demanding outdoor environments while the three-pole twist-lock connection provides quick, secure installation without special tools. The weather-resistant design ensures dependable performance in commercial, industrial, municipal, and roadway lighting applications.

Built for long-term outdoor service, the SC-10A features a sealed construction, solid brass contacts, high-temperature polyester base, and operating temperature range of -40°C to +65°C.
